star_ocean_fanAs of last week, I'd emailed Square Enix (through their customer support system - it was the only way to actually write out my inquiries) about the status of Star Ocean: The Last Hope and future possibilities for the series. I promised that, as soon as I heard anything back, I'd update.
Today, I heard back from Square. The response wasn't quite what I was expecting when I asked about future Star Ocean titles. I feel that this response is good news.
Mentioned in previous posts, I'd heard a rumor that The Last Hope was the last game for the Star Ocean series. The game's reception, I feel, is a little mixed, so I wasn't sure if it was something Square would continue to produce. Rest assured, my friends, that the rumor I mentioned is just that: a rumor. According to the email from Square, while the parent company has no current plans to develop any more games (particularly a sequel to The Last Hope) for the Star Ocean series, they're not going to say it won't ever happen. The developers are currently busy with numerous other projects (paraphrased).
While this isn't exactly an informative email - I'd still like to know how we can petition for more games in the Star Ocean series - it's better than what I'd anticipated. It also gives me hope. The Last Hope isn't the last hope. :)

Since I now have some free time, I'm going to resume the projects I placed on hold this past Saturday. For tomorrow, I'll try to post some fanfiction. I'll check to see what I haven't published already and be sure it's work-safe. Also, for tomorrow, I'll post the rest of the list of conventions from the beginning of August through the end of the year.
