SO3 Topic - Was Earth Really Destroyed?

The other day I was browsing through many of the Star Ocean videos on youtube (thank goodness for youtube), and one of the video entries caught my attention. It was titled Earth's Collapse. This particular video capture of Till the End of Time was in Japanese, but that didn't bother me so much as it was more about watching the events play out.
In the scene, as most players of Till the End of Time already know, the Enforcers are flying by all of the Pangalactic Federation's outposts and destroying them until one of them reaches Earth. The shields surrounding the planet have already taken some serious damage as the Enforcer winds up its powers of Destruction. When the powers are unleashed, Earth is glowing in red and showing signs of collapse.
Yet, after Luther's defeat and viewing the solo endings for everyone (two games where Luther's been defeated by my party and I still get the solo endings), in Fayt's ending, he comments that his college is closed indefinitely, which makes me think that Earth hasn't been destroyed after all. Sophia is shown as returning to Earth as well. While there has been a great deal of damage done, it's like Earth's destruction never happened. And since, in the clip I watched, I saw only massive explosions taking place, I can't help but wonder if Earth really collapsed in itself after the Enforcer's attack.
What do my fellow Star Ocean fans think?
