So today's agenda is all about love. Since it's all about love, let's keep it simple as well. Which characters belong in your OTP? If you're unsure of what OTP means, don't feel bad. I didn't know, either, that it meant one true pairing. Now that you know, which pairing are you, the reader, gaga over and why? For myself, well, I admit that I'm a bit of a rabid yaoi fangirl. ^_^ Years ago, when I first started to write The Power of Fayt, I was leaning very much towards Albel Nox x Fayt Leingod. In fact, even though another story sold me completely on the Luther Lansfeld/Fayt Leingod aspect, I still do enjoy Albel/Fayt. Unfortunately for me, I really haven't found anyone who can really sell that relationship to me in fanfiction. Yes, there are very well-written fanfic pieces out there, but they're very few and far between. Plus, I tend to go for the more obscure pairings when it comes to my fandoms. Luther/Fayt is quite obscure, though I'm sure there are other combinations that are just as obscure, it not more so, than they are, but I'm very much sold on them.
Part of why I love this particular combination is the fact that Luther and Fayt are true counterparts. Luther is the Creator and Fayt is the embodiment of Destruction. I know you don't get to see very many close-ups or profile images of Luther in the final battle or even anything where Fayt and Luther are side by side, but it's very likely that Luther knew what Fayt was going to be and thus created Fayt to look similar to him. Also, despite some of their more obvious differences (Luther is a 4-D being, Fayt is a 3-D being, they're from different worlds, etc . . .), the two actually have more in common than what anyone might realize. They're both passionate about their beliefs and convictions. They both believe in doing the right thing. (Think about it: Would Luther really destroy something he worked hard for if he didn't think it was the right thing to do?) I personally think that Luther intended for Fayt to have certain traits that were different from him. I think that Fayt is something Luther wanted to be at some point or another, but couldn't realize that particular dream.
Another selling point for me is actually coming from a book I've recently borrowed from one of the local libraries (I have access to three different libraries, all of which are about 5-15 miles from my house) on Eastern Wisdom. I've gotten as far as the segments on Hinduism (I'm still reading up on India), but so far, these small chapters, or sections, have talked about how Creation cannot exist with Destruction.
Do I think Luther could be all gushy-mushy towards Fayt? I think it'd be hard for him to be something he's not used to being, but he'd try, perhaps going to extremes for everything to be perfect and the way that he wants it. He didn't get where he was in his life by playing nice with everyone or even being a pushover, but by being confident in who and what he was and in what he could accomplish. It would be hard for him to trust Fayt right away. Not just because of the final battle but because that's just how Luther strikes me. On the same hand, though, once he's decided who he's going to be with and who he's going to lower those emotional barriers for, I really do feel that Luther could at least open himself up to one person, hoping that said person wouldn't betray him or use him in anyway. (Of which, out of the entire hero party, the only one who I can see who wouldn't do that is Fayt. Out of the list of bosses in Sphere 211 and out of Luther's subordinates, Azazer is the next closest thing. Hmmm . . . I could have fun with that.)
There are other pairings for Till the End of Time that I'm willing to write, willing to challenge myself to write . . . As horrid as it sounds, if a story calls for it, I'll write Albel/Sophia or Albel/Maria, and Cliff/Sophia. Officially, I'll go with Maria/Lieber, Cliff/Nel, Cliff/Fayt, Luther/Fayt, Albel/Fayt, Albel/Mirage, aaaaand I'm toying with the notion of Cliff/Albel.
That's just for Till the End of Time. Since I haven't played First Departure or Second Evolution yet, that only leaves The Last Hope, which I feel I tend to be weird about that as well. On the yaoi side, I lean very heavily towards Crowe/Edge and maybe even Edge/Faize and Arumat/Edge. Canonically speaking, I leave Bacchus with his wife. I think it'd be pretty lousy to write him with someone other than his wife, Freesia, simply because of the fact she stood by him while he carried out his duty of destroying the Grigori. I can also see Faize/Lymle, to one extent or another. For the het pairings, Edge/Myuria all the way. :) Myuria is one of the reasons why Edge grows as a character, and I can totally see how it would work. I'm not sure about the Crowe/Eleyna angle, but then I need to get that ending to see if I actually like it.
Valentine's photo shoot with my Edge Maverick and Fayt Leingod figures . . . yes, it seems so unfair that Fayt towers over Edge. Perhaps. /evil grin/
Close up of Fayt. Yes, I used real food for this. I only wish I had real roses and rose petals to add to the effect.
Better angle with the cake.
Shot of Edge. That isn't a bottle of real wine. For the purpose of the photo shoot, I'm going to call it St. Mangosteen Juice. XD (It's actually a bottle of non-alcoholic, wild berry spumante made here in Michigan.)
Edge and Fayt together again.
Last shot. The silver heart pendant belongs to my little sister. Very glad she let me use it. :)
Now for the fanfiction!

Disclaimer: I do not own Star Ocean: Till the End of Time or the characters of Fayt Leingod, Cliff Fittir, or Luther Lansfeld. They are the intellectual, creative properties of Square Enix and Tri-Ace respectively. I do not profit from writing this story.
Summary: Luther and Fayt come to an agreement.
The sheets felt cool and smooth against his bare flesh, like someone had taken the cleanest, purest water and woven it into the finest of fabrics. He found the coolness of the silk sheets comforting and relaxing, and Fayt wanted to do nothing more than to cocoon himself within his bed's confines. At one point, a couple of blankets had been wrapped around him as well, keeping him warm and secure and content. The same someone had also strewn rose petals over him and the bed. Fayt detected their light fragrance and inhaled deeply.
So many memories tugged at his heart and demanded his attention. So many emotions threatened to overwhelm him and drown him in a sea of chaos. Love, anger, betrayal, hurt . . . all washed over the blue-haired man as he remembered what it felt like to touch and be touched by the one he loved.
Fayt Leingod had loved Cliff Fittir. He could not escape that fact, no matter how hard he tried. Hell, a part of Fayt still loved Cliff and would always love the older man.
However, Fayt knew he and Cliff were not meant to be. He had discovered that when he found Cliff in bed with another, which never really eased the pain of the knowledge.
"Fayt?"
At the sound of Luther's voice, the blue-haired man opened his eyes and peered out from under the blankets. The older man stood at the foot of the bed, a heart-shaped box of chocolates in one hand and a bottle of wine in the other. A slightly wicked gleam appeared in the other man's blue eyes, a hint and a suggestion of what he wanted from Fayt. The other man wore only a pair of black silk boxers, and Fayt could not help but notice how muscular yet slim Luther appeared. The sight of the Creator was more than enough to cause Fayt's breath to hitch in his chest and to have his heart skip a beat or two.
"Care to join me for a drink?" he asked.
Fayt slowly nodded, and he pushed himself into a sitting position. Luther moved so he could sit next to him. The blond-haired man set the box of chocolates down. From out of nowhere appeared two silver goblets, each with a dragon winding around the stem, and then Luther was pouring them a drink.
As he watched the older man, Fayt knew things happened for a reason just as he knew he and Cliff were not meant to be together. If the two had been meant for each other, Cliff never would have strayed, and Fayt would not have been reunited with Luther. As strange as it looked and sounded, there was something about the way Luther touched him that simply burned Fayt to the core. His senses had come to life after the first time Luther had taken him, bringing out sensations Fayt never knew existed. While he loved Cliff, Fayt loved Luther more. The two men raised their glasses in a toast.
"Happy Valentine's Day," Fayt murmured.
"Happy Valentine's Day," Luther repeated. He smiled. "And here's to the adventures we will soon share."
"Adventures?" Fayt echoed. He could not help but smile in return. "You have something more than this," he gestured to their room, "in mind?"
Luther's somehow became enigmatic as he sipped at his wine. Then he said, "That, Fayt Leingod, you will soon find out. In the meantime, let us enjoy the moment and the holiday."
With those words spoken, Luther leaned over him, kissing him . . .
Title: The Perfect Romantic Day . . . Or Something Like That
World: Till the End of Time
Pairing: Luther x Fayt
Rating: PG13

Summary: Luther has a surprise for Fayt
Outside the penthouse, Luther heard the first sounds of water hitting glass. It started out slow and tentative at first, the timing between each drop around fifteen to twenty seconds long and erratic. Then the rhythm started to increase in its beat, and Luther paused in his work to watch in fascination as the darkened skies opened their floodgates and drench the world. The water slid down the window, much like the waterfall in his and Fayt's penthouse suite. It was not quite as beautiful as the waterfall itself – it had been his present to Fayt on the younger man's birthday – but the rain possessed a similar, soothing effect. Luther found himself lulled into a moment of tranquility and serenity.
The moment, however, did not last long. Lightning arced across the blackened skies, and thunder rolled, rattling the windows. Luther thought of Fayt and how the younger man enjoyed watching storms such as the one currently unleashing its wrath upon the world. Then the Creator remembered something rather important.
Fayt was not home.
It was Valentine's Day on Earth, and the younger man had left to do some last minute shopping. They were planning a rather quiet evening, just the two of them, but there a few things – such as candles and wine – they could not receive from the replicators. Because such things were considered hazards and could cause the entire replicator system to malfunction, Fayt had volunteered to brave the cool weather and shop for what they required. Undoubtedly, he was now caught in the downpour, unprepared for the rain.
Luther frowned at the thought of Fayt walking in the rain, a cool rain at that. The younger man would be chilled all the way to his flesh and quite miserable for his poor luck. While there were some rather delicious ideas of how he could warm his partner upon his return, Luther knew Fayt would be more than a little irritated as well as chilled. The younger man would berate himself for not checking the weather before leaving, though rain had not been in the forecast. It would take a little something extra to sweeten his partner's expectedly foul mood.
Saving his work, Luther shut down his laptop then called up the main computer for the Eternal Sphere. A few ideas had come to the Creator, gestures that would surprise and please Fayt, and Luther typed the commands into the program mainframe at a furious pace. Within moments, the shape of the bed he and Fayt shared changed as well as the shape and depth of their bathtub. Both were now in the shape of a traditional Valentine's Day heart. The tub was also filled with steamy, hot water and bubbles, and the bed sheets were of the finest satin, blue in colour. A soft, down comforter covered the piece of furniture. Candles lit both rooms, something that would undoubtedly upset Fayt. He had left to retrieve candles for their dinner. Coming home to see two rooms lit with the potential fire hazards would undeniably be most displeasing, and Luther silently cursed himself for not thinking of using the programs sooner.
Once the rooms were to his satisfaction, easy though they were to change, Luther used the main computer to locate his partner before stepping away, causing it to power down. Fayt was no more than two blocks away from their building, according to the data, and Luther smiled, if only a little. He then entered his and Fayt's bedroom, pulled out some warm clothing for Fayt to redress in after the bath, and retrieved a blanket from the hallway closet.
In less than ten minutes, Fayt was standing inside their suite, water dripping from his lithe form and pooling on the floor around his feet. He clutched two small packages, and Luther immediately wrapped the blanket around him.
"I-I-I-I'm s-s-s-sorry," Fayt said, his teeth chattering quite loudly as he spoke. "I s-s-s-s-should have . . ."
"Checked the weather?" Luther finished, holding Fayt close to him. "They were not predicting rain the last time I had checked, my pet. You still would have been caught unprepared."
"Thanks," Fayt murmured. He sounded a little dejected. "That makes me feel a whole lot better."
"You're pouting," Luther said.
"I am not," the blue-haired man said. Luther smiled and kissed his partner's cheek.
"Fine. You are irritated then and cold from rain. Come. I know of something that will warm you quite nicely," he murmured. "I have a bath drawn for you."
"A bath?" Fayt echoed. He lifted his head so their eyes met. A spark of interest and longing appeared in the younger man's eyes. Luther nodded.
"Yes . . . a bath . . ."
"A bath sounds good . . ."
"I figured it might," Luther said with a low chuckle. "Come. Let's get you out of those wet things and into the tub . . . I have another surprise waiting for you."
"Another surprise?" Fayt echoed, allowing Luther to lead him towards the bathroom. "I didn't know you were into romance, Luther."
"I have my moments," the blond said enigmatically. He then kissed Fayt, his hands sliding under the blanket. His fingers touched wet clothing, but Luther knew they would not be on his lover's body for much longer. Within moments, their clothing lay on the floor, creating a slightly soppy path to the bathroom, and both men were in the altered tub, soaking in the heat from the water.
As Fayt's legs slid around his hips and their kiss resumed, Luther decided he rather liked this holiday of Valentine's Day. After all, any holiday that brought him into contact with Fayt and treated him to the younger man's sweet kisses was definitely worth celebrating.
That's all for today. I am coming up with more writing topics, but I think I will still reserve tomorrow's entry as fanfiction only. I still have to compile voice actor lists, merchandise, cosplays, fan-created merchandise, and I plan on looking for photos of the game covers to post as well. Right now, the biggest obstacle, it would seem, is compiling the doujinshi list since I'm quite certain there are more available than what I've been able to find on eBay. That, like the fan-created items and cosplay, may be something continually ongoing.
Hope everyone enjoyed the Valentine's Day goodness of this entry, and I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day. Until the next entry!
