Star Ocean Social Media

Okay, so I'm currently playing around on facebook as I write this entry for today. While I'm not entirely certain about the age of myspace, I'm sure at the times Second Story and Till the End of Time were released, social media sites like myspace, twitter, facebook, linkedin, and google-plus hadn't come into play. (Facebook and Twitter definitely didn't exist, though online fanfiction and journaling sites were already in full swing.) The social media sites were already up and running when The Last Hope was released for the XBox 360 and then the PS3.
With so many people who do use social media sites, either to connect with family and friends or to establish business connections, it has me wondering: do the social media sites try to resurrect themselves once civilization is no longer post-apocalyptic and once it has re-established a high-tech world? In fact, how quickly does the high tech world re-establish itself in a post-World War world? Just how vast would social media become as humans encounter alien cultures and begin exchanging ideas with one another?
In answer to my questions, I do believe the social media sites will make a comeback once the technology is re-established. I also think the technology would be re-established as quickly as possible. A lot of information would be lost in the process, the stuff that couldn't be back onto a disc or thumb drive and kept in a safe, secure place. We wouldn't have the likes of Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, or even Yahoo!, google/gmail, and hotmail, but there would be other search engines, browser pages, email, and social media websites available. Would they be better than what we currently have? It's always possible, but their initial goals would remain the same - bring information to a vast majority of people, connect them, and help to sell products on a global scale.
Once other, off-world cultures are encountered and established, the internet will take on a whole new meaning. I wonder how many aliens would be friends with Fayt on something similar to facebook . . .?
And that's all I really have for today. Interview later so I don't have much more time for writing. Have a good Tuesday! (I'm so excited!)
